2010-11
The third and final talk of the 2010-11 academic year was given on May 12, 2011 by Professor Sarah Milledge Nelson on “Korea and the Silk Road.”
The second lecture of the 2010-11 academic year was given by Professor Jodi Magness on "The Archaeology of Qumran and the Dead Sea Scrolls” on March 31, 2011.
The first lecture for 2010-11 was given on February 17, 2011 by Dr. Cameron McNeil on “The Chocolate Tree and Its History among the Ancient Maya.”
2009-10
The third talk and final talk of our inagural year was given by Patrick McGovern, Scientific Director of the Biomolecular Archaeology Laboratory for Cuisine, Fermented Beverages, and Health at the University of Pennsylvania Museum in Philadelphia, and was followed by a reception and tasting of the Dogfish Head recreations, generously hosted by the Bonny Doon Vineyard and Cellar Door Café, and open only to AIA members.
The second lecture hosted by the AIA-UCSC Society was given on Monday, April 26, 2010 by Professor Jonathan Mark Kenoyer on "The Indus Civilization: New Discoveries in Pakistan and India."
The first lecture hosted by the AIA-UCSC Society's was on Wednesday, December 2, 2009. The speaker was Dr. Gary Devore, who discussed his excavations at Pompeii: "Life Among The Plebs: The Archaeology of a Lower Class Neighborhood in Pompeii."
